در مدح جاوشی

Mowlana's sonnets (in his Great Book of Shams) that are remembered the most are those with the fast rhythms and short sentences that can make you dance without any music. So, for a Persian listener there is much more in them than their inspiring and spiritual messages; there is ecstasy, there is movement, there is elation.

During the last two decades, some young singers/musicians crossed the confining boundaries of the traditional Iranian music and used the fusion music to bring a new life to these sonnets. I personally believe this is the ultimate music that these sonnets have been dreaming of for centuries.

Among these singers is Mohsen Chavoshi and here is one of his greatest works based on one of Mowlana's sonnets. The song is called 'Connected'.

He's my life, don't beat him!

He's all mine, don't take him!

He is my water, my bread

There is no garden of hope like him.

Its trees and flowers, running waters,

red color of its apples and green color of its willows are all unique.

He is connected, he is perfect,

he is the flame in my heart, bring him here!

He's my life, don't beat him

He's all mine, don't take him

P.S. I will not be surprised if this sonnet was literally speaking of Shams and his sufferings whom wasn't favored by some of Rumi's pupils and disciples and what Mowlana was thinking of him.
